Set the Current Period

Notes:

This is the first calendar reporting period end date for the project. You do this once for a new project. Once the current period is set, you Advance the Calendar to the next calendar reporting period end date (current time now) as part of the status and analysis cycle for the project. You must be an administrative user to set the current period and advance the calendar.

In instances where your project start date falls in the first calendar reporting period, you do not need to set the current period. It is set by default when you set the project start date.

When you intend to implement the change control process for the project, be sure to Enable the Change Control Log before you set the current period for the new project. EVMax automatically creates the current period budget values based on the current period setting. Should budget values already exist for the current period, turning on the change control log will clear these values.

Prerequisites

  • Set the Project Start Date and End Date. This determines the project's period of performance. It also determines calendar reporting selections in the main EVMax window. You must be an administrative user to set these dates.

  1. Select Home > Earned Value in the Navigation Menu. The main EVMax window displays.
  2. Select your project from the Project dropdown in the Ribbon Menu.
  3. Select the Admin tab.
  4. Click Set Current Period in the Ribbon Menu. A Set Current Period selection box displays. The project start date and calendar structure assigned to the project determines the list of available options.
  5. Select the current reporting calendar period end date for the project. This should coincide with the project's start date. For example, if the project start date is January 15, 2020, select the calendar period end date for the month of January 2020.
  6. Click OK. A confirmation dialog box displays.
  7. Click Yes.
  8. Select the Main tab in the Ribbon Menu. Notice the Cur Pd Start and Cur Pd End dates in the Ribbon Menu. These dates reflect the start and end date for the current reporting calendar period.
